Alexia Samiotis

Provisional Psychologist

Alexia is a provisional psychologist currently completing the final year of her Clinical Neuropsychology PhD at Monash University. She has experience working with both children and adults, conducting neuropsychological assessments and providing therapeutic support across a range of clinical settings.

Alexia is passionate about neuroaffirming and culturally sensitive care and strives to incorporate these principles ino her therapeutic approach.  She has developed a particular interest in the intersection of mental health and neuropsychology. Her research focuses on understanding how factors such as cognitive functioning (e.g., memory) and brain structure interact with mental health challenges in individuals who have sustained a traumatic brain injury.

Alexia has worked in diverse settings, including a rural placement in Alice Springs where she honed her skills in delivering culturally sensitive assessments and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support children and families with neurodevelopmental conditions. She has also worked with individuals with neurological conditions in both hospital and private settings, using a range of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Positive Behaviour Support. Alexia has also facilitated memory skills groups and developed tailored cognitive rehabilitation strategies to meet the unique needs of each client.

Alexia brings her kittens ChiChi and Prada into the clinic. Outside of work, Alexia enjoys spending time in nature, whether hiking or camping, and she’s also cultivating a small but growing veggie garden.
