Emma is a Registered Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Emma has completed a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology), Honours Bachelor of Arts (Psychology), and Master of Professional Psychology. Emma is also an associate member of the Australian Psychological Society (Assoc MAPS).
Emma has worked for many years in community mental health with both young adults and adults, already holding a welfare diploma qualification. More recently Emma has been working with adolescents in a high school setting.
Emma provides a supporting counselling approach and uses the modalities of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in her work. Additionally, Emma practices as an animal assisted therapist (AAT) with her certified therapy dog Billy. Emma and her Labradoodle Billy have been working together in school environments since early 2018. Billy assists in reducing anxiety and improving mood during sessions.
Emma is passionate about working with children and adolescents with an array of mental health presentations and developmental disorders. Emma has an interest in working with those on the Autism Spectrum and their families, drawing on her own experiences of a family member with the disorder.
