Kathleen has experience working with people across the lifespan and enjoys working with children,
adolescents, adults and their families. She takes a person-centred approach, focusing on strengths
and views of a child or adolescent. She uses a collaborative approach which includes working closely
with parents and teachers where appropriate.
Kathleen and her Samoyed, Luna-Belle have completed animal-assisted therapy training. Luna-Belle is
known for her beautiful “Sammy-smile”, her hypoallergenic white fluffy coat, and high fives.
Kathleen enjoys working closely with Luna-Belle, together, they provide a warm, safe and caring
environment to meet therapeutic goals.
Kathleen has knowledge of mental health disorders and has experience in assessment and diagnosis.
Areas of assessment include learning difficulties, Specific Learning Disorder (Dyslexia (reading),
Dyscalculia (mathematics) and Dysgraphia (writing)), Autism Spectrum Disorder, social and
emotional challenges, behaviour/attention challenges, Intellectual Disability and trauma. Kathleen is
particularly interested in the assessment of strengths, high IQ and giftedness.
Kathleen provides evidence-based practice using her warm manner and is interested in play therapy,
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), animal-assisted interventions, strengths-based therapy,
mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with children, adolescents and adults.
Kathleen is a registered psychologist who holds a Master of Educational and Developmental
Psychology. She is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and
the Psychology Board of Australia.
