Lara is a psychologist whose background includes working with children, adolescents, university students and adults. Lara takes on a person-centred strength-based approach and aims to provide a safe and non-judgemental environment for her clients.
Lara works with Theo, who is a playful young cavoodle who loves everyone he meets. Theo loves cuddles, pats, belly rubs, treats, praise and a whole lot of love and affection. Lara and Theo work closely together to provide a safe and welcoming environment to help clients achieve their therapeutic goals.
Lara is experienced in the assessment of a number of different mental health conditions, including cognitive and learning assessments. She is particularly interested in Specific Learning Disorders (Dyslexia, Dysgraphia and Dyscalculia) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Lara loves working with individuals of all ages, particularly children and their families. She has a knowledge of mental health disorders across the lifespan and is able to assess, diagnose and treat mental health issues. Lara has had experience with a number of different evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, Mindfulness and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Lara has completed her Master of Educational and Developmental Psychology at Monash University. Lara’s research focused on young children and their sense of belonging within the school environment. Lara is a registered psychologist holding memberships with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and the Australian Psychology Society (APS).
In her spare time Lara enjoys hanging out with her puppy, reading, going on road trips, being outdoors (e.g., beach, forests, waterfalls), and playing Nintendo switch (especially Mario Kart).
