Lara is a provisional psychologist whose background includes working with children, adolescents, university students and adults. She is in her final year of the Master of Educational and Developmental Psychology at Monash University and is a student member of the Australian Psychological Society. Lara’s current research focuses on young children and their sense of belonging within the school environment. She has previously researched the impact of the home environment on a child’s academic performance.
Lara is interested in conducting assessments, including cognitive and learning assessments. She is particularly interested in Specific Learning Disorders (Dyslexia, Dysgraphia and Dyscalculia). She takes on a person-centred approach, focusing on individual’s strengths. In her work, Lara provides a warm and non-judgemental environment in which best supports her clients to reach their specific goals.
Lara loves working with individuals of all ages, particularly children and their families. She has a knowledge of mental health disorders across the lifespan and is able to assess, diagnose and treat mental health issues. Lara has had experience with a number of different evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, Mindfulness and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT). Lara is looking forward to both extending and expanding her experience at Mullum Road.
