Samantha is a provisionally registered Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). She completed a double undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Psychological Science/ Bachelor of Criminology at Deakin University, and went on to complete her Bachelor of Psychology (Honours), and Master of Professional Psychology at the Cairnmillar Institute.
Samantha has experience working as a Family Violence practitioner, and raising awareness of Family Violence through the delivery of community education sessions to young people through to late adulthood within culturally and linguistically diverse communities. She further led workplace and community Family Violence and mental health initiatives, increasing her scope to deliver social connection and skill building activities for young people in an inclusive and supportive environment.
During her fifth year at university, Samantha undertook a placement in the primary education sector at a local government school in Melbourne’s South East. In this role, Samantha supported children diagnosed with Autism, and presentations including Attention- deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), anxiety, challenging behaviour, and learning difficulties. She conducted classroom observations, one-on-one therapy, and regularly consulted with teaching staff and parents to deliver psychoeducation, and the provision of strategies to support children within both school and home environments. Samantha conducted cognitive assessments and extended recommendations for children experiencing learning difficulties. Additionally, she co-developed and delivered group interventions, including a social skills group for children with Autism, aimed at both skill building and supporting emotional regulation.
Samantha employs a client-centred, collaborative, and empathetic approach to therapy, with the goal of nurturing trust and supportive connections within therapeutic relationships. Samantha utilises various therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Play Therapy, and Mindfulness, and draws from other modalities to fit and meet the unique needs of the client to achieve their goals.
During her free time, Samantha is an avid tennis player, enjoys walking her Toy Cavoodle Max, and watching movies.
